Job description: Under the general supervision of the President & CEO, is responsible for the technological direction of the Hospital. An active member of the Senior Team who partners with senior leaders to design and implement a strategic IT plan to successfully position organization for the future. Proposes budgets for programs and projects, purchases and upgrades equipment, supervises computer specialists and IT workers, and presides over IT-related projects.


Strategic IT

– Consult with administration, department managers, and vendors to exchange information, present new approaches, and to discuss equipment/system exchanges

– Participate in vendor contract negotiations for all new computer equipment and software purchased for the corporation

– Assess and anticipate technology projects and recommend appropriate action and resources

– Propose hardware and software solutions to accomplish the company’s business objectives

Organizational IT Needs

– Provide technological guidance

– Supervise information systems and communications network

– Develop and implement a customer service platform to serve the organization in every aspect

– Facilitates meetings and brings working groups to consensus

– Collaborate with clinical and office staff in the development and management of IT project plans and tasks for system enhancements, upgrades, and new systems

– Maintain a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the applications, its functions, and its relationship to other information systems within the organization


– Acts as the Hospital’s HIPAA Security Office

IT Department

– Manages the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology department including directing staff, who support administrative computing, networking, user services, telecommunications, and other information technology functions

– Establish and direct the strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for the Information Technology department

– Develop and update policies and procedures pertaining to systems maintained and supported by IT


1 Budget Management: Prepares and manages department budget variances

2 Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement operational plan

3 Fosters an environment of continuous process improvement

4 Completes all evaluations on or before the due date

5 Results oriented: is timely and comprehensive in follow-through and achievement

6 Utilizes data for timely decision-making; Exercises sound judgment

7 Holds staff accountable and confronts problem behavior or unsatisfactory performance promptly and fairly



Education: Undergraduate degree in Business, healthcare, or Information Systems required

Experience: At least 10 years of progressive IT management experience
