Job description: Basic Purpose:

To provide support to the QA Supervisor in administration Quality program requirements.

Responsibilties:

  • Support and facilitate the focus on attainment and maintenance of Federal, State and Local Regulatory agencies requirements as well as maintenance of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification for the site operations.
  • Understand, support, and comply with Company, Provincial and Federal Environmental legislation and regulations as applicable
  • Manage all activities to ensure effective cleaning practices as measured through pre-op/post-op reports and environmental swabs.
  • Oversees pest control programs for the plant.
  • Identify and communicate any potential environmental, health and safety concerns to management.
  • Understand, support and comply with all food safety and quality policies/procedures as per SQF Code which includes but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), and Food Security, Kosher, Allergens, Hygiene, government regulations and customer requirements.
  • Maintain all registries as required by SQF.
  • Responsibility to report food safety, quality and regulatory compliance to plant or division personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Maintain and monitor Hold Log and Customer Complaint programs including root cause analysis and executing a closed-loop corrective action process, including verification steps.
  • Verify & maintain all records related to the SQF Code Food Safety and Quality system and HACCP.
  • Maintain and monitor GMP trend analysis.
  • Assist in trials and projects.
  • Assist in lab equipment calibration & testing as required by QA Supervisor.
  • Perform inspection and maintain Plant’s calibration matrix by ensuring timely calibration of Test and Measuring equipment.
  • Act as internal audit program subject matter expert and provide guidance to the Plant Internal Audit Teams.
  • Oversee retain samples and packaging materials testing.
  • Develop SOPs as required by QA Supervisor.
  • Inspect packaging and raw materials as delivered against specifications and associated COA & COC
  • Conduct employee training
  • Assist in completing work instructions for work centers and applicable standard operating procedures.
  • Support business needs as required.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee and the individual departments.
  • Must work effectively in team environments, communicating and participating in a constructive manner.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and has no direct reports.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication, problem solving, written and verbal skills
  • Basic mathematical, technical and analytical aptitude skills
  • Ability to organize and work within a multifunctional team environment
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to prioritize and manage a diverse number of projects.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office suite preferred.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving training and skills.
  • Ability to uphold Safety standards, participates in Continuous Process Improvement on the job, and follows Manufacturing Best Practices.
  • Ability to engage with individuals and teams, be punctual, and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or off shifts as required to ensure optimal success for the department, plant and company.
  • Understands Quality requirements and has sound knowledge of food/beverage packaging equipment.
  • Complete understanding of the laboratory analytical equipment function and operation.
  • Some mechanical aptitude and understanding of the coffee making process equipment.
  • Flexibility in work schedule.
  • Demonstrated safe work habits and good work ethics.
  • Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67-100 % of the workday).
  • College graduate or equivalent within Quality Assurance field (preferably Food/Drug industry experience).
  • Some HACCP Training (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point).
  • Internal auditing & SQF pracicitoner cretification training prefered.
  • Knowledge of Health Safety & Environment, SQF Quality and Food Safety.
