Our Unilever Hammond, IN facility is the home of the Dove Beauty bar, one of Unilever’s biggest brands and the largest soap factory within the US. Our Hammond facility is where we have been working to make beauty a source of confidence by manufacturing the different variations of the Dove beauty bar. By joining our Hammond team, you will join a globally recognized site, that is also famous for being able to produce a billion bars in one year. As the Manufacturing Manager, you will have the overall responsibility for the manufacturing operations and the associated maintenance and reliability at our Dove bar soap manufacturing site located in Hammond, Indiana. You will report directly to the Factory Director and will be a key member of the site leadership team. You will lead the single sourced site for the North American bar soap manufacturing network in the safe and effective operation of this 250-employee unionized facility. The site produces the iconic Dove & Caress beauty bar brands and is a critical component of the NA business model at Unilever.

What You’ll Do:

You will be accountable for implementing all standards to deliver world class performance of all applicable operation metrics for the site. This will be achieved through the implementation of the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) agenda driven to deliver world class quality at the lowest delivered cost in a safe and effective manner. You will champion the site’s AM or PM Pillar and will be an active leader in the Dove global bar network. The individual will be accountable to develop and lead a team of high performing associates through continuous improvement strategy and initiatives.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Lead departmental operational and maintenance activity meeting safety, quality, and production targets.
  • Develop and deploy metrics across all organization levels down and make sure everyone in his/her organization knows what his/her unique contribution is to support Hammond’s performance goals.
  • Leads a team of First Line Managers and hourly operations and skilled trades associates in a 24/7/365 manufacturing operation.
  • Enforce policies and lead improvements to operations through the development & implement manufacturing standards.
  • Liaison with the supply chain planning organization to support superior customer service through delivery of schedule adherence and support of the bars run strategy.
  • Partner with the HR team to develop a high performing team.
  • Manage within the expectations of the site operating budget to deliver the low-cost business model for NA bars.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required, technical degree preferred. (An advanced degree is a plus)
  • Experience: 7+ years of plant site experience. Having experience in Beauty Bar Soap manufacturing is desired.
