Job Description

  • Teams work as part of a research and development program to explore adapting specific emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven technologies to provide process augmentation for making decisions and taking action for optimizing the glass container forming process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Configure, implement, and operationalize advanced analytics tool for the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure that data, reporting, and analytics requirements are being delivered to support the rapid process development goals.
  • Understand manufacturing data sources and ways to get data from them
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of data to meet the needs of all MAGMA teams for reporting, dashboarding, and analytics.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing data dictionary
  • Work with other MAGMA squads to review data together, brainstorm, and ideate ways to get value from manufacturing data.
  • Work with Controls and Digitalization Squad Leader to develop the squad’s technology development plans and associated cost/resourcing plan to achieve core milestones.
  • Oversee and coordinate projects and staff related to squad goals.
  • Foster a team environment of strong communication, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Participate in the development process and in obtaining and working with both internal & external resources (Contractors, Suppliers, Strategic Partners, etc.)


Roles reporting:

  • This role has no direct reports
  • This role will work closely with employees, strategic partners, suppliers and contractors within the specified discipline/focus area:

– Technical Employees within the Squad; engineers and scientists of varying disciplines, data scientists and engineers

– Vendors – Specific resources or a complete agreement with the partner

– Contractors – Specific resources or a complete agreement with the partner

– Strategic Partners – Specific resources or a complete agreement with the partner

Physical Requirements:

Able to occasionally perform physically demanding job task;

  • Work in high temperature environments
  • Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out

Although tools/equipment are provided for working with heavy items, there may occasionally be needs to lift items up to 50 lbs


Technical & Soft Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in, Machine Learning, Controls Systems, Data Analytics
  • Strong decision making and judgment skills with boots-on-the ground attitude
  • Good understanding of fundamental engineering principles, and manufacturing processes
  • Background or strong knowledge of R&D principals within a manufacturing environment
  • Team Orientated Individual– must have excellent people skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to interact with all levels of R&D, including external suppliers

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is expected to be domestic and international around 10% or less for occasional trips to the operations sites.
