Job description: Responsibilities

Manages activities of the Gas Engineering Group, including responsibility for the design of new business mains and services and replacement activities. Prepares and communicates reports for various activities in the department. Responsible to insure goals and objectives are met within budget constraints.MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:( % of Time,Primary / Secondary) Oversees and manages project management of new, replacement, and municipal projects, including new business installation process and design of new business mains and services.(30%,P) Recommends and approves materials and processes used on distribution system in compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsible for updating/revising standards consist with new or revised regulations. (15%,P) Oversees departments initiatives, the preparation of budgets and the tracking, cost control, and reporting of actual O&M and capital expenditures.(20%,P) Responsible for employee goals and objectives and ensuring alignment with department and corporate goals.(10%,S) Responsible for the preparation of reports to document performance in meeting department, corporate, or regulatory goals and requirements. (10%,P) Represents the company on various teams or committees with Energy East, state, regional or national issues. Acts as liaison for the Company with customers and with state and municipal agencies to coordinate efforts.(5%,S) Investigates failures of gas system components and procedural breakdowns and recommends corrective action.(10%,S)

Skills and Requirements

Skills/Abilities:Able to solve complex problems. Project management skills. Mentoring ability. Able to Multi-task. Experience/Training:At least 8 years of technical experience in gas engineering and operations. Thorough knowledge of company, federal and state policies and procedures. Prior supervisory/management experience. Familiarity with budget preparation. Knowledge of gas system construction and maintenance practices, corrosion control techniques, underground pipe locating, map reading, blue print reading. Certifications: PE license desirable. Required Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field. Masters preferred.
