Job description: Mobile Communications America, Inc., is seeking experienced LMR Engineer I. The desired candidate will have major responsibilities of designing and implementing communication systems to include consoles, LMR radio, Microwave and other auxiliary equipment required in a complete communication system environment. Design includes understanding Motorola processes, , design software and types of equipment supplied by Motorola and other vendors. Other responsibilities may include the designing SCADA, Fire Station Alerting, Mass Notification, IP Networks, and Point to Point / Multipoint systems. The position is remote within the MCA footprint.

Additional responsibilities include analyzing site and path survey results, participate in FCC coordination and licensing processes, finalizing designs and bill of materials, developing test and cutover plans, and remotely supporting the field technician team during field integration and testing services.


  • Basic understanding of RF fundamentals (antennas, filters, frequency propagations, and standard transmitter/receiver circuits).
  • Basic understanding of transmitter/receiver duplexer and combining subsystems.
  • Familiarity and experience with subscriber radios, control stations, base stations, repeaters, and shared channel protocols (e.g., trunking).
  • Layer 2 Ethernet switching and Layer 3 IP addressing.
  • Basic experience with protocol analysis (e.g., Wireshark).
  • Personal computer operations and security.
  • Grounding standards and best practices.
  • Ability to develop a logical implementation statement of work.
  • Familiarity with various geographic coordinate systems.
  • Ability to develop informative block diagrams.
  • Provide implementation support.
  • Develop proposals and responses to RFPs.
  • Basic experience with coverage prediction software.
  • Basic understanding of Pathloss and Microwave networks.
  • Knowledge in concepts, characteristics, capabilities, and theoretical design of P25 and DMR two-way and microwave radio equipment.
  • Must have a strong technical electronics background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to conduct failure analysis.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • A minimum of 3 years of system engineering or related experience is preferred
  • Solid background in engineering principles
  • Knowledge in concepts, characteristics, capabilities and theoretical design of P25 two-way and microwave radio equipment.
  • Knowledge in concepts, characteristics, capabilities and theoretical design of microwave radio equipment
  • experience in IP network operations, WAN and LAN technologies and protocols, preferably in a communications service provider environment.
  • Knowledge of IP Routing and Switching
  • Must be detail oriented, able to work without constant supervision
  • Must be able to read and work from manufacturing drawings and schematics
  • Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with other employees, sub-contractors, and customers
  • Ability to multi-task in a demanding, results-driven environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point and Project required
  • Must have a strong technical electronics background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to conduct failure analysis
