Job description: The IT Perimeter Security Specialist will execute assignments in the area of protecting company information assets through security policies and procedures, enterprise accounts and permissions management, application and system security software packaging, distribution and patching, incident response, vulnerability management, and security technology implementation, operations, and maintenance. This position will physically be onsite at our World Headquarters in Kansas City, MO.

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate systems’ compliance with IT security requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems.
  • Ensure proper protection of evidence used in investigating computer crimes.
  • Evaluate and recommend the acquisition of implementation, and dissemination of IT security tools, procedures, and practices to protect information assets.
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of an IT security awareness training program for end-users at all levels in the organization.
  • Update contingency or disaster recovery plans to respond to new security requirements or changes in the IT architecture.
  • Present updated plans to the IT security manager for review and approval.
  • Plan and conduct security accreditation reviews for installed systems or networks.
  • Recommend new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on the results of accreditation reviews.
  • Evaluate new security authentication technologies such as public key infrastructure certificates, secure cards, and biometrics.
  • Recommend the purchase of authentication software.
  • Administer and monitor the implementation of information applications.
  • Identify and specify information systems security requirements associated with migrations to new environments.
  • Provide guidance in planning and implementing migration activities.
  • Develop specifications to ensure compliance with security requirements at the systems or LAN level.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Applicable years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Minimum 7 yrs experience in information security.
  • Information security certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying computer forensics principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying: requirements analysis principles and methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying procedures for purchasing/using COTS products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying performance management methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying: analytical ability; and communications techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying test and assessment methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying network operations and protocols.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying life cycle management principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying systems security principles and methods; and systems security regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applying systems security regulations and policies.
