GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position will work directly with the Business Office Manager and duties will include inmate trust/banking activities, processing of inmate payroll, petty cash, reconciliation of various bank accounts, and assisting in other business office areas such as the facility reception desk, warehouse, and commissary areas, as well as other duties as assigned.

The Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) is specifically designed to serve as the main intake and assessment center for male inmates. It serves as a primary education and treatment center for inmates identified as requiring high levels of protective custody and medical, mental health, dental, substance abuse, life skills, cognitive/behavioral, and/or sex offender treatment services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Post charges, refunds and deposits to the inmate trust fund
  • Process remote bank deposits
  • Request, evaluate and data enter court-ordered obligations into the inmate trust fund
  • Data enter child support obligations into the inmate trust fund
  • Respond to inmate trust fund questions in written form
  • Forward the main facility incoming telephone calls to appropriate offices
  • Assist warehouse and commissary duties, as needed
  • Provide support to facility accountant, as needed

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of balancing financial records.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office system.
  • Knowledge of email communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate’s Degree (typically in Finance)

Experience:

0- 2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Clerk

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Clerk

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Lifting/grasping up to 20 pounds without assistance on an occasional to regular basis
  • Walking on cement floors on an occasional to regular basis
  • Walking up and down stairs on an occasional basis
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching on an occasional basis
  • Reaching on a regular basis
  • Typing/Repetitive motion on a frequent basis
  • Talking/hearing on a frequent basis
  • Seeing: the visual ability to perform an activity such as analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, extensive reading.
