Our engineering team has grown substantially over the last 2 years and we have now reached a point where our engineering leadership team needs to grow to prepare for future growth. We are looking for an engineering manager to help us grow responsibly from both technical and people-related standpoints. In this role, you’ll be given the opportunity to have a large amount of impact and autonomy. As an Engineering Manager, you will be both a people leader and a technical leader. You will be responsible for building a healthy and high-performing team by hiring, developing talent, and instilling a positive team environment. As a technical leader, you will partner with other engineering leaders and stakeholders to define project goals, oversee the design and drive execution.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Shared responsibility for VESPR Validate, CalypsoAI’s flagship product, a world-first AI Model Validation platform
  • Recruit, grow, and lead a team of software engineers of varying levels from graduate to principal
  • Mentor the professional development of each engineer through personal and performance management and coaching
  • Work closely with product owners to set priorities, objectives and clarify direction for the engineering team
  • Design, build and maintain user-facing experiences, APIs, services, and systems to solve problems and delight users from end-to-end
  • Use your strong technical background to discuss and guide on complex problems
  • Build and promote best practices, high engineering, and security standards, and continuously improve our codebases and processes
  • Actively collaborate with partners in Product Management, User Experience, Product Marketing, and Program Management to set the vision for your team, develop a roadmap to follow that vision, and drive the team to execute that roadmap with an emphasis on the velocity with high quality
  • Anticipate issues, suggest solutions, and partner with fellow managers to provide your team with the best opportunities for success

Required Experience

  • 7+ years software development experience
  • 1+ years of people management and hands-on engineering management
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Hands-on proficiency using Python, Docker
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, and AWS preferred
  • AI knowledge/experience particularly in machine learning preferred
  • Previous experience in high growth, startup company preferred
  • A commitment to challenging the status quo, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning
  • Experience working with complex products and codebases
  • Experience building and scaling web applications and data-intensive applications
  • Responsible for managing a remote engineering team on US East Coast time zone
