Job Description Qualifications:
The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Supply Chain Engineering organization is seeking an Engineering Manager (multi-skill) to lead a diverse and hard-working team of engineers who are using an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to develop integrated solutions and process improvements to improve multi-functional and cross-organizational engineering and business processes.
This role to lead the Supply Chain Engineering Initiatives team. This team is made up of multiple engineering functions including Project Engineering, Process Engineering, Production Engineering, and Project Management. As the leader for this team you will be responsible for a portfolio of organizational and enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives aimed at improving Boeing and supplier interactions and engineering requirement communication in order to reduce supplier quality issues and drive production stability.
There are several key initiatives including developing a new data management system, improving the qualification process, ensuring proper documentation of supplier production control documents, addressing gaps in the product standards change process, leading the reduction of supplier engineering request backlogs, implementing process fixes in supplier data transmittal tools, etc.
As a leader of this team you will work across with various business units and organizations to champion collaborative relationships and drive project execution and enterprise-wide project implementation. You will be a strong motivator able to work with and develop your team’s ability to generate thoughtful and effective solutions to often complex problems.
The role will also require leading various team members in recurring work statement to ensure that various non-technical tasks are being completed on-time with the highest level of quality. This will require integration with various internal customers to ensure expectations are clear, metrics are defined, team members are held accountable, and continuous improvement are being implement through problem solving standard processes.
This position is a full-time onsite in Everett, WA.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages and provides oversight to a team working across organizations to develop and implement process improvement initiatives
Accountable for execution of the portfolio of process improvement initiatives
Manages, develops, and motivates employees
Acquires resources for projects and processes and leads process improvements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes and provides technical guidance to resolve engineering issues
Occasionally need to travel
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years of engineering experience
2+ years experience leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Proven ability to embrace change, lead continuous improvement, and treat safety and quality as top priorities
Flexibility, adaptability and comfortable with a variable work statement
Must be a self-starter, adept at leading projects and influencing people across multiple organizations
Fosters a healthy, creative and productive team environment
Experience leading complex projects
Experience leading queue based statement of work management
Willingness and ability to manage ambiguity and turn it into action
