Position Summary

Reporting to VP of Logistics, the Director of Transportation will lead the ofi transportation function for North America. The Director will be responsible for implementing the transportation strategy for all modes on inbound and inbound shipments via inland and marine. This leader will build and lead a team of transportation professionals in the planning and execution of transportation for multiple business units within ofi. The Director of Transportation will partner with leaders in Sales, Procurement, Warehouse and Distribution, Customer Service, Quality, Finance, and Manufacturing to ensure on time and cost-effective transportation services.

The ideal candidate will be action orientated, lead by example, effective communicator (internal and external), and an innovator. They must be able to prioritize and execute multiple priorities and leverage their team to ensure success.

Position Responsibilities

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a transportation team who wants to be remarkably better, by providing leadership, mentorship and helping define the vision for ofi transportation across North America.
  • Use an entrepreneurial mindset to effectively align with business groups to enable positive and stable business growth.
  • Ensure the Company’s transportation network remains resilient in the face of unforeseen network and market disruptions.
  • Coordinate cross functionally to develop the most cost effective inbound and outbound (Inland and Marine) strategy while maintaining customer expectations.
  • Be the subject matter expert on transportation and aid in educating partners and leadership to prioritize and secure funding and resources for executing shipping strategies.
  • Responsible for creating and achieving annual financial and service targets for transportation services to include improvement initiatives.
  • Drive results by creating a data driven function/team which is continuously evaluating options for improved costs, capacity, and service.
  • Responsible for development of systems and procedures which support the mission to protect the personnel (safe working environment), product (FSMA), and facility assets (GMP) under the care of the Transportation team.
  • Accountable for personal leadership and career development, both annual assessment and activities to improve skills.
  • Oversee and ensure all transportation related operations comply with applicable environmental, health, safety, and other regulatory rules and regulations (OSHA, DOT, State, Federal, HIPAA, ofi).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field is required.
  • Ten (10) years of experience with active Inland and Marine transportation management is required.
  • SAP ERP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Cloud based TMS experience required, Oracle OTM is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent financial, analytical skills, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and successfully collaborate with internal and external stakeholders is required.
  • Strong orientation for customer service is required.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities is required.
  • Advance level in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, and Word is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% is required.
