Job summary

The AWS Startup Business Development team works with early-stage startups, accelerator and incubator leadership teams, many early-stage angels, VC investors and scaled startups while navigating cross-AWS and Amazon to enable startups to realize outsized success. The team is comprised of founders, builders, venture investors, accelerator professionals, Angels etc. They drive high-impact initiatives across AWS to build the startup ecosystem and support the next generation of startup entrepreneurs.

We’re inviting you to join our team as Business Development Partnerships Manager to drive the awareness and adoption of the AWS cloud across underrepresented founder startup communities globally through partnerships with Startup Organizations such as Accelerators, Incubators, Angels, and Universities, etc. In this role, you will develop strategic partnerships with organizations serving underrepresented founder-led startup firms and underrepresented investors in the startup ecosystem and work closely with them to help them grow and prosper. You will deliver tangible business results that increases AWS adoption and customer success by building awareness in startup ecosystems for AWS Startup programs and services, providing technical and business guidance on the topics most important to startups and using customer feedback and experiences to help AWS improve its startup services, messaging and products

Candidates must have prior experience from working within the startup ecosystem, e.g., partnerships experience at a founder network, as a venture capital investor, a startup founder, an accelerator operator, or nonprofit serving underrepresented founders. Candidates with experience from startup/investment organizations such financial advisory firms, technology media, founder’s club, corporate venture investment teams, and family offices may also be considered.

The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional business development background and demonstrated technical aptitude that enables them to engage with leading startup firms and interact with startup founders, CXO’s, engineers and builders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage global strategic partnerships to drive mindshare for AWS in majority of underrepresented founder startup organizations and underrepresented investors
  • Oversee partnership criteria, success metrics, and budget for partnerships
  • Identify partner needs and opportunities to enable partner organizations serving underrepresented founders
  • Serve as ongoing point of contact and project manager for partnership deliverables, including events, mentorship, and technical workshops
  • Develop and manage relationships with top organizations serving underrepresented founders to educate them on how AWS can help build their portfolio companies scale and grow by leveraging AWS services, resources, and go-to-market programs
  • Partner with AWS Startup Marketing and PR to leverage partnerships across the Startup Segment

  • 8+ years of partnerships or business development experience
  • Passion for startups with innate desire to work with startup founders and help them grow
  • Ability to think and work creatively to develop unique value propositions for the local startups through collaboration with venture firms and investor community
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge about the unique challenges facing underrepresented founders
  • Strong leadership with demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
  • Demonstrated BD mindset to help customers achieve business goals beyond just selling products/services and marketing
  • BA/BS degree


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Startup founder/CXO experience
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree
  • Well networked in the startup/tech ecosystem

Preferred location is San Francisco, final location is flexible with access to a major airport for travel purposes
