Summary of Job Duties: The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking an Adjunct Faculty to teach Private Voice at the undergraduate level. This position will be responsible for teaching a studio of private lesson students and a possible voice class for non-music majors. The ability to teach on campus, in person is expected.

This non-tenure-track Lecturer position within the College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education will lead course instruction, provide curriculum material, construct syllabi, create and administer exams, test, and provide other scholastic achievement guidance. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.


Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Master of Music degree or equivalent experience in voice performance or closely related field.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Teaching experience in musical theatre styles and in voice instruction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned private voice students, including a voice lab setting once per week;
  • Prepare students to perform in student recitals;
  • Teach a voice class for non-music majors;
  • Assess student-submitted work;
  • Follow course objectives according to voice area requirements and expectations;
  • Adjudicate voice juries at the completion of the semester.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of voice instruction;
  • Piano skills sufficient for teaching a voice lesson without an accompanist always present;
  • Collegial and cordial attitude toward interaction with colleagues, students, and staff;
  • Demonstrable content knowledge of vocal music repertoire;
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
